LADY IN RED
Red is a vibrant, powerful, fiery, fast, stimulating, and devious color. It can express self-confidence or just subtle blushing. It’s utterly contradictory and has polarizing effects and meanings. It’s the color of both cupid and the devil. The color of love and hate. It can represent hot-blooded anger or the scarlet letter of shame.
It strikes a chord with many cultures. It means good luck in China, where brides wear red colored gowns, bad luck and mourning in parts of Africa, purity and integrity in India, and it’s represented in the red-light district in Amsterdam. Red is a cultural contextual color due to its intensity and passion. Some see innocence or danger, pain, attraction or beauty. It can be happy, honorable or brave. It can also represent life, fertility and love.
Red in makeup or fabrics enhances an individual’s attractiveness because it is emotive and eye – catching. It catches the eye. Artists have used it in their art due to its symbolic significance to various cultures.
It causes emotional reactions in all of us, which is why retailers use it to stimulate people to make quick buying decisions, thus the retailer’s “Sale” signs with offers too good to pass by!
Lessons of color Red aside, every 8th of March we take a moment to celebrate the color red in representing the wonderful bond that is love of a woman, by all. A bond that runs through our veins which was delivered by the woman. The nurturer of humanity. She is valued, loved and essential to civilization. She plays a critical role in society often without realizing it. She delegates, manages, invests, implements and forms our society’s future development with little or no acknowledgement, but this doesn’t hold her down.
